debt-relief-3Not all debts can be integrated into a debt relief or modification plan. Here are a few of those debts, and how you can address them.

Student loans

Remember, you can extend your student loan payments up to 30 years, but they aren’t usually on the table when it comes time for debt relief. You’ll just have to pay them, sooner or later.

Mortgage and car loans

You simply won’t be able to find true debt relief or radical modification on debt linked to mortgage and car loans. However, those usually have their own relief and modification actions and options. The key idea is to communicate with your agents immediately if you foresee trouble down the line.

Child support and alimony

If you can’t pay, it’s best to go to court and prove that you can’t.

Utilities

It’s the same with your mortgage and your car loans. Call the utility companies immediately. Most of them have payment plans and options ready. Barring that, you can also talk to your local government offices for assistance.

Taxes

There’s no getting away from paying the IRS – if you have any problems paying your taxes, you will have to talk to them as soon as possible. Methods can involve extended payment periods or wage garnishment. And even if some of your tax debt is forgiven, you’ll have to probably have to pay taxes on the amount forgiven.
