debt-relief-5Living a life free from all kinds of debt seems like wishful thinking for many. Little do they know that with wise spending and a contented outlook, it is possible to achieve it.

The following are very basic guidelines. It’s just a matter of applying them to our lives. Here are three ways to make every penny work for you:

Manage your impulses. Needs should always come first before wants. There is nothing wrong with giving in to your desires. But before buying the latest gadget or clothes, ask yourself the following: Can you afford it? Can you justify it?

Live moderately. Frugal living is not about not buying things you like. However, you cannot afford to buy something that will not provide much value. Put things in the right perspective.

Save religiously. Saving more money reduces your dependence on credit, particularly on credit cards. A little savings here and there goes a long way. If you set aside $25 monthly for 30 years, with an average return of 6% over the whole time, you would have over $25,000. At $25 a week, you can earn $109,000 in 30 years. But don’t push it too hard, too fast. Give yourself time to practice until it becomes natural.

Sounds easy, isn’t it? By applying these tips, being debt-free can soon be your new lifestyle. Remember: Your goal this year is to remove “debt” out of your To-do list.
