The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, improves nutrition and helps end hunger by giving monthly benefits to qualified low-income households, to help them buy the food they need to achieve good health. The Alabama Food Stamps are administered by the Food Stamp Partnership.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Service determines the eligibility rules and benefit amounts, based on income and household size.
