If you’ve tried to get mortgage relief or mortgage loan modification, chances are you may have met delays or are already frustrated with the processes involved. Here are a few reminders that can help you with mortgage loan modification application.
Make sure that you are in your primary home. Remember, most if not all mortgage modification offers require that the homeowner be living in the house, or have it declared their primary residence.
If you know you are very close to the upper limit for qualification, double-check everything. It’s possible that you may have overlooked something in your calculations, and that you actually may not qualify for the mortgage loan modification you’re aiming for.
Inform the other party if your employment status or income level changes. How much you earn each month and the stability of your monthly income are critical to any possible mortgage relief. Always be up-front with your situation.
Keep duplicates of all paperwork done. Given that the process for modifications is undergoing great stress due to the number of applications, you should have multiple copies of all the paperwork you’ve done, so if they need another copy, you won’t spend too much time filling in the blanks again.
Get the final papers in writing and recorded. Again, due to the many applications, do make sure that once you are approved that it is in writing, archived and confirmed. Otherwise, you may start with your trial period and then learn halfway that the paperwork hasn’t caught up with your payments. As long as nothing is confirmed in such a manner, you should keep on paying the original monthly amount for your mortgage.
