The Connecticut Worker Retraining program offers funding sources to help dislocated or unemployed workers with extensive experience re-enter the workforce or increase their earnings with upgraded skills.
Unique programs suitable to one’s need
The state of Connecticut gives retraining services under these programs:
1) The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) for Dislocated and Unemployed Workers
2) Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)
The first program involves three stages: core, intensive and training services. Anyone can receive the core services such as job assistance, career counseling and job referrals. Workers may progress to intensive and training services if they qualify (based on financial need and other factors). Qualified workers who are getting intensive services and still unable to find jobs may receive training that is linked to job opportunities in the local area.
The second program provides federal funding for services and benefits for qualified workers who have lost their jobs or work hours and wages due to foreign competition or offshore outsourcing. These affected workers receive retraining, relocation allowances and other re-employment services.
Never lose hope. There are still many ways to put yourself back in the workforce. Sign up on the box at the top right to find out more about the benefits of retraining in your state.
